The Wallace Collection Concert (brass quintet) – Friday 11 October 2024 at 7.30pm at Inverurie Town Hall

TWC ft2

Please note the start time of 7.30pm for all concerts this season

The Wallace Collection (brass quintet) will be joined by additional brass ensemble and percussion for this concert – the second in the Inverurie Music Concert season – on Friday 11 October 2024 at Inverurie Town Hall (7.30pm).

Musicians from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Chris Overton (percussion) will join The Wallace Collection for this concert which will feature works from Aberdeenshire-based composers, Johne Hearne and John De Simone.

The Wallace Collection was launched by John Wallace in two concerts at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, in 1986, with an eclectic mix of old and new in both instrumentation and repertoire. The ensemble has appeared regularly at the Edinburgh and other international Festivals and toured widely through Europe, Russia, North and South America, Australasia, Africa and Asia. Find out more here.

Tickets for the concert cost £14 for non-subscribers and are free for under 25s in full-time education, and for those on disability or low-income benefits. These are available from TicketSource, at Novello Gifts (29 West High Street, Inverurie) or at the door.

The full programme for the concert:
Haydn: ‘The Rider’ Quartet, Op 74, No.3 (arr. for brass quintet by Julien Tollot, 1854)
John Hearne: The Four Horsemen
Beethoven (arr. Wallace): Rondino
Beethoven (arr Wallace): Die Alte Gute Zeit
Four Folksongs (collected by G Thomson from Limekilns)
John De Simone: Trope

As a bonus, on the day after the concert (Saturday 12 October) John Miller (trumpet) and Tony George (tuba) from The Wallace Collection will lead a workshop and provide individual coaching for local brass players at King’s Pavilion, University of Aberdeen. Find out more about this great opportunity here.
