Inverurie Music Award Scheme

IM logo sinopia

Inverurie Music launched an award scheme for young musicians in April 2019 to mark its 20th Anniversary season. Students attending one of four local schools – Alford, Inverurie, Kemnay, or Meldrum Academies – are eligible to apply for awards to support their musical activities. Details of the scheme, which was supported at its launch by renowned artist Nicola Benedetti, are shown below.

In September 2019, applications opened and by December 2019, thirteen young musicians had received awards of between £100 – £200. Almost £2,000 was distributed to support these talented young musicians, some of whom are pictured below.

Cara Dick has purchased a double bass stool.
Olivia Kemp already plays flute and received money to help her purchase a piccolo.
Olwenn and Linden Stewart were helped to progress in music examinations with awards to contribute to the cost of sitting the examinations.

Fundraising has already started for the Award Scheme Fund 2020. Details of a fundraising piano recital held in January 2020 can be found here.
