Review: Tim Kliphuis Trio at the Acorn Centre, Inverurie – 16 November 2024

Some comments from audience members

‘This trio never fails to impress me with the virtuosity of their playing and their outstanding compositions and arrangements.   This was another very memorable performance.’

‘Kliphuis Trio are music magic and we’re so grateful also for their care for our living world – we came away with glowing hearts and happy ears!’

‘Their interaction with the audience added a warmth to the evening!’

‘Greatly enjoyed second half: not yet fully convinced by Pictures. But all three are consummate musicians and hearing/watching them play anything is entertaining.’

‘Having seen the twice already I was prepared to be mildly let down, but wasn’t.  A joy to see & hear such excellent musicianship.  Second half better than the first…’

‘Great concert. It was amazing the range of sounds and music that these three musicians could produce. Lovely mixture of classical with gypsy jazz. Inventive and heartwarming. I enjoyed every minute. Thanks’

‘It was completely engrossing. Both ensemble and solo sections added so much to the original music.’

‘They were absolutely excellent and hope they will be invited for a third visit when next doing a tour. I have brought the Kirkcudbright gig to the attention of a friend who lives there with a strong recommendation.’

‘Tim Kliphuis is an eloquent and warm communicator that sets the mood for the pieces that follow. It would be unfair to single out any person but Roy Percy’s versatility on double bass is astonishing.’

‘Third time seeing Kliphuis Trio and excellent every time.’

‘Masterful playing, great venue. The trio really brought the ‘Pictures’ to life and captivated us with their interpretation of the Five Elements.’

‘Brilliant fusion of classical music and jazz. Tim a v personable guy, and the venue first class.’
