Sirocco Winds – 8 November 2025 (7.30), Acorn Centre

Untitled

The third Inverurie Music concert for this season features the wind quintet Sirocco Winds in the Acorn Centre in Inverurie.

Tickets for the concert cost £15 for non-subscribers and are free for under 25s in full-time education, and for those on disability or low-income benefits. They are available from TicketSource, at Novello Gifts (29 West High Street, Inverurie) or at the door.

Formed in 2012, Sirocco winds are five Masters graduates from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The members, based in Glasgow, come from all around the U.K. and Spain, and the group has played live on Classic FM, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland.  Apart from their regular chamber music appearances, all perform as soloists and freelance orchestral musicians.

Their programme is:
Ferenc Farkas: Early Hungarian Dances
Maurice Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin
George Gershwin (arr. J. Linckelmann): Rhapsody in Blue
Jim Parker: Mississippi Five
John Blackwood McEwen: Under Northern Skies
Amy Beach: Pastorale
Peter Maxwell Davies (arr. M. Howells): Farewell to Stromness
