Inverurie Music is delighted to welcome GAIA, who will perform in Inverurie during their Scottish tour taking place in November 2021. The tour is supported by Chamber Music Scotland and will see them travel to many parts of the country, including Dumfries, Skye and Cromarty.

Tickets cost £12 for general admission and are free for under 25s in full-time education, and for those on disability or low-income benefits.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite here and also from Butterfly Fabrics, 48 West High Street, Inverurie AB51 3QR. Please buy tickets in advance to minimise queuing at the entrance.

Please add your name and contact details to tickets obtained from Butterfly Fabrics. These will be collected when you arrive. If you obtain tickets on Eventbrite, contact details are automatically recorded for the person buying the tickets. If, however, you buy tickets for people from more than one household, please provide a name and contact details from each of the other households by writing these on a slip of paper which will be collected at the door.

GAIA are an award-winning violin and cello duo, comprising two of Scotland’s most distinguished chamber musicians – Katrina Lee and Alice Allen. Winners of Chamber Music Scotland’s highly competitive and prestigious two year residency, GAIA are at the forefront of innovative and pioneering programming with exciting, bold and daring performances that push the boundaries of string duo performance and creative programming. Find about more about them here.

The programme for the concert in Inverurie comprises:
Duncan Strachan: Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird
Edmund Finnis: Sister
Two works by Rebecca Clarke: Lullaby and Grotesque
Sally Beamish: Stone, Salt and Sky
Tunes by Scottish Female Composers

GAIA celebrate and champion works by under-represented voices within classical music and their commitment to spotlight historical works by uncredited women composers sees them explore current issues of gender inequality within classical music, making them one of today’s most exciting and dynamic duos of our times.
