Inverurie Music Award Scheme 2024 Update

IM logo sinopia

The Inverurie Music Award Scheme ran for its sixth year in 2024 and we are delighted that more than £2,400 was awarded to 18 young musicians from local schools.

Applications were received for funding for a variety of purposes including to help purchase instruments (a violin, a saxophone, a euphonium, a trumpet, a tuba, a piano, a guitar and a set of bagpipes) and to help purchase other musical items (a violin case, an electric bass amp, music books and mutes). Some young musicians requested help to pay for lessons or to attend a music workshop. All these requests were supported to some extent with more than 94% of those who received funding being awarded at least half the amount requested (39% received the full amount).

Fundraising activities have already started for the 2025 fund. The first is a Cycle Challenge which our intrepid board member Iain Milne has taken on. The challenge, which takes place on 17 May 2025, is to cycle 120 miles from Beer in Devon to Soberton in Hampshire. Details of the challenge and how to support Iain can be found on his GoFundMe page here. Iain’s tremendous effort to boost the Award Scheme fund and help local young musicians is much appreciated. Good luck Iain!

A Quiz Night fundraiser is also planned for Friday 23 May 2025 at St Andrew’s Church, Inverurie. More details will follow soon.
