Buy tickets on Eventbrite here

Inverurie Music and the North East of Scotland Classical Guitar Society present this JKL Duo concert entitled ‘The International Poet’ featuring new music based on classic Robert Burns’ melodies.

Inverurie Music and the North East of Scotland Classical Guitar Society are delighted that the JKL Duo will travel to Inverurie to give this short concert for our audience in Aberdeenshire. This will be a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The programme of music is from ‘The International Poet’, the title of the JKL Duo’s debut album. In the words of the duo, they ‘have imagined what could have happened if Burns himself had been alive at this time and what he may have created. It is an opportunity to hear some of the Bard’s most celebrated poems under a new light and discover hidden aspects of them.’

Tickets for the JKL Duo concert are £10 for general admission and are free for under 25s in full-time education and for those receiving disability or low-income benefits. You can obtain tickets in advance on Eventbrite here and at Butterfly Fabrics, 48 West High Street, Inverurie. Tickets will also be available at the door.

About the JKL Duo

The JKL Duo is a Flute and Classical Guitar Duo, based in Glasgow.

Kerry Lynch (Flute) and Jacopo Lazzaretti (Guitar) met almost 6 years ago when Jacopo came to Glasgow to complete an Erasmus year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The couple met, and have been together ever since. Their musical partnership has taken them to concert halls and recital spaces around Scotland, and in 2019 they opened their very own teaching studio in Glasgow’s West End ‘JKL Duo Studios’ – where they teach and coach people on their respective instruments.

The global pandemic cut their planned 2020 Scottish tour short, however, their most recent performances prior to that include recitals for Inverurie Music, The North East Classical Guitar Society, The Spire Concert Series (Glasgow) and Saint Margaret of Scotland Scottish Episcopal Church Concert Series (Glasgow).

Kerry Lynch began her musical training when she was twelve years old, upon being admitted to study Classical Guitar with Peter Stewart at the Junior Conservatoire of Scotland. However, after a family friend left their flute at her house, Kerry discovered her true musical calling and changed direction to become a flautist. Kerry has since trained and performed in masterclasses with some of the world’s most dynamic and inspiring artists, such as: Ian Clarke, Ruth Morley, Lorna McGhee, Michael Cox, Niall O’Riordan and Aisling Agnew.

Jacopo Lazzaretti graduated from the Conservatoire of Santa Cecilia in Rome in 2017 where he studied with Arturo Tallini, and completed a Masters Degree in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019 under the guidance of Matthew McAllister and Professor Allan Neave. During his studies, he has also performed in many masterclasses with some of the guitar scenes most well-known guitarists. Jacopo has played in many concerts in Italy as well as abroad and won several prizes in national and international guitar competitions. He has also become an artist for ‘Live Music Now Scotland’ in January 2018.
