Piano/Chamber Music Master Class

Saturday March 30th 10.15-12.45 ( two hours tuition)
Lana Trotovsek (Vn) and Maria Canyigueral (Pf) are performing for Inverurie Music at the Inverurie Town Hall on Friday 29th March (See upcoming Facebook posts for details of concert). On Saturday 30th March they will be giving a masterclass for musicians in this area who wish to play in a piano quintet, quartet or trio. Local amateur or professional musicians who wish to participate will include piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass players. Numbers will be strictly limited to up to two for each instrument to enable there to be meaningful tuition in the two hour session. Players may come with ready formed groups or as individuals. Choice of music will depend upon the number and range of players, however, if a double bass player is present then the Trout Quintet will be one of the pieces sampled.
The class is priced to break even as Inverurie Music is a Scottish Charity.
Cost £35.00 per person payable in advance by March 15th. Students in full time education £20.00

Since her concerto debut in 2012 with Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra conducted by Gergiev, Lana Trotovsek appeared with some of the finest orchestras. She has toured with the Moscow Soloists performing Mozart’s Symphonia Concertante with Bashmet and the Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 with the London Symphony Orchestra under Noseda. She performed concertos under Tan Dun with Orchestra Teatro Verdi, the Shanghai and Slovenian Philharmonic, and under Lajovic with Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia and Pehlivanian, and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. She performed double violin concertos with Sergey Krylov and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra in a number of occasions and she toured with actor John Malkovich and Solisti Aquilani, performing Bach’s A minor violin concerto in festivals Emilia Romagna, Ljubljana and Mittelfest.Trotovšek has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven and appeared at festivals including Rheingau, Aix en Provence, Shanghai International Arts Festival, Festival Internacional de Santander, Dubrovnik, Al Bustan, Bad Kissingen, St Magnus International and Aldeburgh.Lana is a professor at Trinity Laban in London. She plays the Pietro Antonio dalla Costa violin made in 1750.
Maria Canyigueral has been described by La Vanguardia as ‘a pianist of great personality’.Her most recent highlights include the world premiere of “Dos páginas para Granados” by Benet Casablancas at the Echoes Festival in London, premiere of her project ‘Avant-guarding Mompou’ in Conway Hall, which includes the commission of pieces by nine recognised composers around Europe including Anton Garcia Abril. Her latest Cd together with violinist Lana Trotovsek is a winner of the Global Music Awards 2016 in California, as a result of which they performed in Belgium, Spain, Japan and the UK.Maria has performed in venues such as el Saló dels Miralls at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Fundación Juan March in Madrid, the Auditorium la Pedrera in Barcelona, the Auditorium in Girona, Sala María Cristina in Málaga, Conway Hall, St. Martin in the Fields, St. James’s Piccadilly, and the Holywell Room in Oxford. She has participated in important festivals such as “Mas i Mas”, “Concerts de Mitja Nit” in Sitges, Chamber Music Festival Fundación Monteleón and some of her performances have been broadcasted by Radio Catalunya Música, BTV and UPV-RTV.
