The Inverurie Music concert season continues in 2024 with the Scholfield Clarke Duo who will perform at Inverurie Town Hall on Friday 9th February 2024 (8pm). Please note that this is concert is the first this season to take place on a Friday.
This concert is part of a tour of Scotland, supported in part by the Tunnell Trust. The duo will present a ‘red, white and blue’ programme which explores the rich diversity of the saxophone’s original repertoire, with works from French, British and American composers. With jazz-tinged, impressionist pieces, luscious romances and angular minimalism, the duo will take audiences on a journey through the life of the classical saxophone over the past 100 years. We are delighted that the programme includes a new commission from locally-based composer John De Simone which has been specially written for concerts in this tour.
Programme:
Jolivet: Fantaisie-Impromptu
Decruck: Sonata in C-sharp
John De Simone: Another Life
Graham Fitkin: Gate
Creston: Sonata
Grant Still: Romance
Albright: Sonata
