A message from Sylvia Munro (Chair, Inverurie Music)
Now that we have moved into Phase 2 of the Scottish government’s Routemap, I hope to spread a little cheer in these strange times by letting you know about our plans for the coming Season 2020-21. We know that our core funding is assured, and we are ready to go ahead with delivering the outstanding programme of music we had already planned for you. Social distancing and all relevant safety measures will be applied at live events and It may be that the initial concert is delivered virtually as a live-streamed event.
Inverurie Music will of course observe all guidelines issued by the Scottish government in their route map through and out of the current situation. It is hoped that by the beginning of October we should have reached Phase 4 of the route map when, to quote from the document, “Gatherings and occasions: Mass gatherings could resume in line with public health advice.” This will of course be a dynamic process and one which we will consider very carefully in order to ensure the wellbeing of our concert-goers.
Now to the exciting bit! We have an amazing programme of concerts planned for the 2020-21 Season.
The season opens with the award-winning Maxwell Quartet in October, followed by the renowned classical guitarist, Craig Ogden in November. In February we see the return of cello/piano Duo Arnicans, followed by the legendary trumpeter John Wallace’s ‘Wallace Collection’ in March. Violin/piano duo Lana Trotovšek and Maria Canyigueral can’t wait to return in April (they love Inverurie audiences); and to finish the season we have been approached by the distinguished pianist Janusz Piotrowicz, a specialist in the music of Chopin.
Quite a feast to look forward to, I think you’ll agree!
