Music at Castle Fraser on a pleasant Sunday afternoon

Castle Fraser #2

Around 150 people came to Castle Fraser on Sunday 18th July 2021 to enjoy an afternoon of music from the ACO Quartet and four young musicians – Lydia Cooke, Ife Akiode, Faith Woolsey and Hannah Reid.

The weather was fair and not too hot, and it was great to see so many people, both young and young at heart, enjoying the music.

Sometimes the wind made it difficult to keep the music on the stand but the performers coped magnificently.

We heard lovely solo playing from flautist Lydia Cooke, clarinetist Ife Akiode, and trumpeter Hannah Reid. Lydia also played two beautiful flute duos with Faith Woolsey. Following the young musicians, the ACO Quartet (Aiden Mazur, Alexandria Grant, Jean Fletcher and Gareth John) took centre stage and performed a variety of pieces ending with the wonderful McMozart’s Eine Kleine Bricht Moonlicht Nicht Musik by Professor Teddy Bor – which was great fun!

More programme information is available here.

Some of the proceeds from the concert will help fund the Inverurie Music Award Scheme for young musicians which will run for its third year in 2021. These awards are available to young musicians from Alford, Kemnay, Inverurie and Meldrum Academies and applications will open in September 2021. More information about this will follow soon.
