Press Release 21st January 2019

Jenny Stephenson/Clarinet, Gent Kocho/Violin, and Christopher Baxter/ Piano make up The Korça Ensemble, shortly to be entertaining the growing number classical concert supporters in the Garioch area at this Inverurie Music event in the Kemnay Church Centre.

This combination of instruments came to prominence in the early 20th Century and many composers have since written for this lyrical instrumentation, exploiting its melodic timbres.

Named after a small Albanian town on the border with Greece, the ensemble was created in 2015 but the three players have worked together on numerous musical collaborations over the years with Jenny and Christopher studying together at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The trio has been well received at a number of venues across Scotland and their playing will make for a a delightful evening at the Kemnay Church Centre with its intimate feel and resonant acoustic, a haven of melody and warmth on a cold February night. There will be music by Khachaturian, Sivori, Bartok, Milhaud, Paderewski, Menotti: the full programme is here.

The concert is on Saturday February 9th, doors open at 7.30 with tickets at £12 (£10 conc. & £1.00 child/student) available at the door, at Up West in Inverurie West High St, or on-line from Eventbrite.
