Tim Kliphuis Trio Masterclasses for Strings and Guitar – Sunday 5th March 2023 (King’s Pavilion, King’s College Campus, University of Aberdeen)

Inverurie Music is delighted that the Tim Kliphuis Trio will offer their expert tuition during a day of masterclasses for guitar and string players held at King’s Pavilion, King’s College, Campus, University of Aberdeen, Old Aberdeen on Sunday 5th March 2023.

Come and join us for this rare opportunity to work with these wonderful musicians.

The Tim Kliphuis Trio are one of the world’s top string groups, combining jaw-dropping virtuosity and mesmerizing improvisations with a beautifully varied repertoire sourced from classical, gypsy jazz and North-European folk music. Award-winning violinist Tim Kliphuis (Netherlands) and Scotsmen Nigel Clark (guitar) and Roy Percy (double bass) celebrate their 17th year of touring together.

Morning session: Violin, guitar and bass players can receive individual tuition from members of the trio (each session lasts 45 minutes). There are six places available – two for each instrument. Bring your own music to work on.

Cost: £35 per person or £25 if in full-time education, or receiving disability or low income benefits

Afternoon session: Guitar and string players are welcome to join the afternoon group session which will involve a group piece (or pieces) taught to the participants without sheet music. At the end of the afternoon, there will be an opportunity for a brief performance. Players are also welcome to bring music to the group to work on.

Cost: £25 per person or £15 if in full-time education, or receiving disability or low income benefits.

Timetable:
10.00 – 12.00 Tutored Individual Sessions (violin, guitar and bass)
13.00 – 16.00 Tutored group session (guitar and string players)
16.00 – 16.30 Performance session

Fees for this event have been subsidised by generous grants from funding organisations.
